Bacolod: An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck northeast of Bacolod city in the Philippines Monday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred 29 km northeast of Bacolod, at a depth of 48.9 km.
The Philippines experiences increased volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where tectonic plates intersect.
