6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Northeastern Coast of China’s Taiwan


Doha: An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck off the northeastern coast of China’s Taiwan region on Thursday. The seismic event, which was recorded at a depth of 88.1 km, occurred 128 km from the island’s northeastern coast, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA) in China’s Taiwan region.



According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of damage or injuries following the earthquake. The region’s location near the intersection of two tectonic plates at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean contributes to its susceptibility to frequent seismic activity.



China’s Taiwan region experiences regular earthquakes due to its geographical positioning. The latest quake adds to the list of seismic events that underscore the importance of preparedness and monitoring in the region.
