9 Killed, 7 Injured in Bus Accident in Western Colombia


Doha: At least nine people were killed and seven others injured in a bus accident carrying university students and their professors on a recreational trip in Colombia. Local police reported Sunday that the accident occurred when the bus driver lost control while transporting 26 passengers from a university in the west of the country, during a trip from Tolima to Quindio. The collision has caused several passengers to fall from a bridge the bus was crossing.



According to Qatar News Agency, Police Commander Luis Fernando Atuesta said in a press statement that authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this accident to determine its exact causes. Road accidents are a leading cause of death in Colombia, with an average of 22 deaths per day due to traffic accidents in 2024.
