The Arab League: has condemned the Israeli Knesset’s decision to ban the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), calling it an unprecedented act that intensifies Israeli transgressions and poses a direct threat to the future of millions of Palestinians within and beyond Palestine. The League warned that this move is part of a broader agenda to expedite displacement and ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
According to Qatar News Agency, this stance was conveyed during a meeting between Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Dr. Ahmed Abu Houli, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and head of its Department of Refugee Affairs.
In an official statement, Aboul Gheit emphasized that UNRWA remains irreplaceable in delivering essential health and education services to Palestinian refugees across its operational zones. He highlighted that UNRWA is crucial to humanitarian relief efforts, particularly
in the Gaza Strip, where conditions are nearing famine, especially in its northern areas.
Aboul Gheit added that the Arab League is actively coordinating with Palestinian representatives and the Arab bloc in New York to push for a UN resolution condemning and rejecting Israeli occupation authorities’ unilateral actions.
