DOHA: HE Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC) Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani affirmed his unwavering confidence in the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, stating that the constitutional amendments serve the interests of the citizens and the country.
According to Qatar News Agency, Sheikh Khalifa expressed support for the constitutional amendment, emphasizing the decision to revert to the system of appointing the Cabinet as a move that serves the country’s and citizens’ interests by focusing on selecting the most competent, reputable, and experienced individuals. He also highlighted the importance of preserving social cohesion among Qatari families.
He expressed his expectation of consensus among Qatari citizens in support of the amendments to the permanent constitution of the country, signed by HH the Amir after being approved by the Cabinet. His Excellency anticipated wide participation in the referendum scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, and noted HH the Amir’s co
mmitment to national unity, equal citizenship, and enhancing the rule of law and justice.
Sheikh Khalifa emphasized that the call for a referendum reflects the leadership’s commitment to strengthening public participation in decision-making, sustaining growth, and uniting the people. He pointed out that the directives of the leadership prioritize citizens’ welfare and guide the country towards growth and development.
He stressed that the approval of the constitutional amendments will positively impact the country’s future and safeguard achievements in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The significant developments Qatar has witnessed have been aligned with a comprehensive vision and strategy, securing Qatar’s distinguished status regionally and globally, particularly in sustainable economic growth and infrastructure development.
Sheikh Khalifa highlighted that more investment incentives and an enhanced business environment will encourage the private sector to inject new investments, especially in vi
tal sectors, attracting foreign investments, and establishing partnerships that contribute to advanced technology and industries in the country. This will boost economic growth and increase private sector exports to international markets.
He also pointed out the expansion of the petrochemical industry, transforming Qatar into a center for re-exporting high-value products, enhancing tourism, developing the digital economy, promoting Qatar as a center for higher education, and increasing private sector participation in vital sectors. These efforts are aimed at strengthening the success of the economic diversification strategy and building a knowledge-based economy.
Sheikh Khalifa commended Qatar’s optimal exploitation of its natural resources and expansion projects in natural gas production, aiming to raise output to 126 million tons by 2027 and 142 million tons before the end of the decade. This will support state revenues and create a qualitative shift in the national economy under the Third National Develo
pment Strategy 2024-2030.
He expressed optimism about the upcoming phase and substantial public participation in the referendum on constitutional amendments, noting that it reflects the strong cohesion between Qatar’s leadership and people, paving the way for further achievements in all areas.
