Doha: China’s retail sales of consumer goods grew 4.5% year-on-year in the first three quarters of 2025, driven by steady consumer demand and a continued recovery in the services sector, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Monday, as cited by Xinhua News Agency.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the period, retail sales of consumer goods totaled 36.59 trillion yuan (about $5.16 trillion), according to the NBS. In September, retail sales rose 3.0% year-on-year, indicating moderate growth in domestic consumption.
Meanwhile, the value added of services production increased 5.4% during the first nine months of the year. The services sector accounted for 58.4% of GDP, up 0.8 percentage points from a year earlier, contributing 60.7% to China’s overall economic growth.
The services production index also climbed 5.6% year-on-year in September, underscoring sustained strong expansion in this key sector of the economy.
