Communications Regulatory Authority Engages in Arab Spectrum Management Group Meeting


Abu dhabi: The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) participated in the 33rd Meeting of the Arab Spectrum Management Group (ASMG-33), hosted by the United Arab Emirates over four days, as part of the Arab preparatory meetings for the International Telecommunication Union’s World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 (WRC-27).



According to Qatar News Agency, the CRA noted that Qatar’s delegation played an active role in technical and regional discussions, reflecting the Authority’s commitment to supporting joint Arab action. The delegation also contributed to the work of the Gulf and Arab task forces concerned with spectrum management.



The CRA chairs the fifth working group at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which is tasked with discussing several items on the Conference agenda. Within this role, the Authority presented unified GCC positions to the Arab Working Group.



The sessions addressed key issues for the telecommunications and ICT sector, including the future of International Mobile Telecommunications, satellite communications, remote sensing technologies, and support for navigation and aviation and maritime safety systems, all within the framework of comprehensive preparations for the upcoming Conference.



The meeting served as a pivotal platform for regional coordination, contributing to the development of shared Arab perspectives that advance national and regional interests, and promoting optimal use of the frequency spectrum in support of innovation and sustainable development. It also highlighted the CRA’s leadership at both regional and Arab levels.



At the conclusion of its participation, CRA reaffirmed its commitment to continue working with regional partners to unify positions on international issues of common concern and to strengthen Qatar’s standing in the telecommunications and ICT sector, reinforcing its leading role in shaping the future of this vital field.
