Doha: HE First Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Kenneth G. Forslund has praised the State of Qatar’s efforts in resolving disputes and conflicts, as well as its significant contributions to achieving peace and stability both regionally and globally. His Excellency highlighted Qatar’s effective role in facilitating the release of stranded Swedes and other nationals from conflict zones and ensuring their safe return to their homelands.
According to Qatar News Agency, in an interview at the conclusion of his visit to Doha, His Excellency emphasized the strong political and economic relations between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Sweden. He noted that both countries are keen on strengthening and expanding these ties across various fields.
His Excellency recalled the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Sweden last September, during which His Highness visited the Swedish Parliament. The visit, he said, was marked by important and fruitful discussions, reflecting the depth of th
e relationship between the two nations.
HE Kenneth G. Forslund pointed to the shared interests of Qatar and Sweden in the areas of green transformation and sustainability. He noted Qatar’s rich natural resources and its aspirations to further harness solar and wind energy, while Sweden possesses advanced technologies and expertise that can contribute to these efforts.
His Excellency explained that Sweden invests heavily in scientific research, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence, highlighting the development of four-dimensional computer systems as an example of his country’s cutting-edge advancements. He emphasized that Sweden’s technological knowledge and expertise could be instrumental in collaborative projects, while also noting the complementarity between the Swedish market, which requires exports, and the Qatari market, which values innovative technologies.
On parliamentary cooperation between Qatar and Sweden, His Excellency underscored the importance of enhancing collaboration, exch
anging parliamentary expertise, and coordinating positions on regional and international issues. He expressed his intention to share insights from his visit to Qatar with his colleagues and constituents, adding: “I am certain that my Qatari counterparts whom I met will share their experiences with others, which will positively contribute to strengthening bilateral relations in the future.” His Excellency also emphasized the potential for promoting tourism and deepening cultural exchange between the two countries, noting the convenience of direct flights between Stockholm and Doha.
Concluding his interview, HE Kenneth G. Forslund expressed Sweden’s appreciation for Qatar’s mediation efforts aimed at achieving international peace and stability. He reiterated his country’s desire to cooperate with Qatar in this regard and to intensify joint efforts to resolve disputes and enhance global peace.
