Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a series of bilateral meetings with several European leaders in Cairo today to discuss regional developments, particularly the situations in the Gaza Strip and Sudan, in addition to ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings included discussions with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schroder, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden.
The Egyptian Presidency stated in a press release that these meetings took place on the sidelines of the European leaders’ participation in the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum yesterday. The statement added that the meetings emphasized the need for the full implementation of the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, in addition to intensifying efforts to end the war in Sudan, reduce the crimes committed in its context, and provide humanitarian aid, as a prelude to reaching a comprehensive political settlement that guarantees Sudan’s stability.
