Egyptian President Stresses Importance of Successful Sharm El Sheikh Negotiations to End Gaza War

Doha: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi underscored on Wednesday the importance of having successful negotiations currently hosted by Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh city to end the war in the Gaza Strip. There is a delegation from the United States that arrived here on Tuesday as part of the negotiation round to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, El-Sisi said during a graduation ceremony for a new cohort from the Police Academy.

According to Qatar News Agency, El-Sisi highlighted that the two US envoys came with a clear message from US President Donald Trump to terminate the war throughout this round of negotiations, stressing the importance of seizing this opportunity. El-Sisi lauded the existence of a realistic desire on the part of his US counterpart to end the war in Gaza through dispatching two envoys with a crystal-clear assignment to end the war. He wished Godspeed for all, emphasizing that Egypt backs all energized efforts to find a solution in this respect.

He urged his US counterpart to persistently provide support to end this war and come to Egypt to sign the war termination deal in case an agreement is reached, especially since the entire world is interested in ending this war, delivering humanitarian aid, releasing hostages, and initiating the redevelopment process for the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.

El-Sisi noted that two years have passed since the outbreak of the Gaza war, calling it a brutal conflict shaking the region, and stressed that Egypt has always been committed to actively engaging with the Palestinian cause, putting in substantial efforts to address it accordingly.
