Israel Expands Seizure of Palestinian-Owned Land near Jerusalem

Jerusalem: Israeli forces on Sunday seized new areas of Palestinian-owned land in the town of Anata, north of occupied Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. Witnesses reported that Israeli troops, accompanied by a bulldozer, entered the town and began levelling large tracts of land.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Israeli forces set up caravans, tents, and mobile rooms at the site, where soldiers raised a flag bearing the symbol of the so-called “Temple Mount.” The recent land seizure occurred three days after Israeli authorities confiscated five dunams and 856 square meters of land in Anata under a military order described as a “land seizure order.”

The confiscated land is reportedly being used to construct a new road linking the settlement of Neve Brat with Highway 437. Residents of Anata were given one week to file objections against the seizure. Data from the Palestinian Land Authority indicates that Israeli occupation authorities have issued 54 military orders for land confiscation across the occupied Palestinian territories since the beginning of 2025.
