Doha: Chairman of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mohamed El Orabi affirmed that the Israeli aggression targeting the State of Qatar today constitutes a blatant violation of a sovereign Arab country.
According to Qatar News Agency, Egypt had condemned the attack through two official statements issued by the Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reflecting Egypt’s full solidarity with Qatar.
Regarding the fate of Qatari-Egyptian mediation efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza in light of this escalation, El Orabi explained that Israel has abandoned the idea of reaching any solution that would lead to a truce and intends to continue its aggression against the Palestinian people regardless of mediation attempts from Qatar or Egypt. He said this underscores Israel’s fundamentally hostile stance.
He stressed that Egypt and Qatar’s role in any negotiations is primarily focused on protecting the Palestinian people above all else, but noted that Israel has shown no interest in achieving a ceasefire unless pressured by the United States.
El Orabi added that Israel is moving toward liquidating the Palestinian cause altogether, an approach that must be confronted by the entire international community.
He linked Israel’s heightened violence to the upcoming Sep. 22 session of the United Nations General Assembly, which is expected to serve as a moment for affirming Palestinian statehood, suggesting that this prospect has driven Israeli leadership into recklessness.
He said that in light of Israel’s escalation, there will likely be an international awakening, as the more Israel intensifies its aggression and violates international norms, the more the world will stand against it and support for the Palestinian state will grow. He expressed hope for rational intervention to halt the bloodshed in Gaza, though he admitted it seems unlikely in the near term and predicted that Israel will continue its military escalation against the people of Gaza in the coming period.
The Chairman of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs stressed the need for Arab states to unite around the single goal of preserving the Palestinian cause and protecting Palestinian lives, while also asserting that Israel will ultimately be the only loser.
