Doha: General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, inaugurated the art exhibition “Colourful Threads of Time” by Austrian artist Amrei C. Jarosch, which is set to continue until October 30. The exhibition is a collaborative effort between Katara and the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Doha, celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Austria.
According to Qatar News Agency, the opening ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including ambassadors, diplomats, and representatives from cultural and art institutions. A gathering of artists and individuals interested in cultural affairs in Qatar also attended the event. This exhibition marks the second cultural collaboration organized by the embassy with the Qatari side within the month, highlighting the deepening cultural ties between the two nations.
During the opening ceremony, Her Excellency Erika Bernhard, the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Qatar, expressed her gratitude for the cooperation with Qatari cultural entities. She noted the significance of the exhibition, stating, “We are pleased to present this exhibition again in partnership with Katara Cultural Village Foundation on a special occasion marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Austria and Qatar.”
The Austrian Ambassador lauded the artistic contributions of Amrei C. Jarosch, whose works delve into themes of identity, memory, and human connection. These pieces create a visual dialogue linking the past with the present and express both personal experiences and shared human emotions. She emphasized that the artist’s creations go beyond visual aesthetics, inviting contemplation and imbuing spaces with meaning and warmth.
Ambassador Bernhard further remarked on the exhibition’s role in fostering communication between cultures and peoples, expressing hope that the experience will endure in memory as a testament to the strong human friendship between Austria and Qatar.
