Kuwait Commends Qatar’s Efforts to Reach Gaza Ceasefire

New york: The State of Kuwait, on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, commended the efforts of the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America in their efforts to reach a comprehensive ceasefire agreement, secure the release of hostages and prisoners, and ensure the safe and sustainable flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, this commendation was delivered in a statement by the State of Kuwait on behalf of the GCC member states before the Fourth Committee on Decolonization at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The statement viewed this agreement as a step towards initiating a serious political process intended to end the occupation and lead to a just and comprehensive peace.

The statement reaffirmed the GCC states’ commitment to the unity of the Palestinian territories, considering it essential for establishing an independent and viable Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This stance aligns with established international resolutions, Security Council resolutions, and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.

It further highlighted that settlement policies, the construction of the separation wall, and the fragmentation of the Palestinian territories between the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem are practices that hinder opportunities for peaceful coexistence and undermine any political process.
