Lebanese PM, Egyptian FM Discuss Regional Developments


Cairo: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met in Cairo on Sunday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the latest regional developments, particularly focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip.



According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s efforts in coordination with regional and global parties to uphold the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement and entirely implement its provisions as a prelude to initiating rebuilding and fostering stability in the Gaza enclave, as reported by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.



The statement also noted that Abdelatty pointed to the preparations underway for convening the Cairo Conference on Early Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development in Gaza, which aims to have broader Arab and global participation.



In relation to bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Lebanon, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of the 10th Session of the Egypt-Lebanon Joint Higher Committee. He stressed the need to continue strengthening bilateral relations and increasing consultations on a variety of issues of shared concern.



He further underscored the importance of advancing economic and commercial ties with Lebanon across all sectors, in addition to operationalizing existing deals and memoranda of understanding to boost the trajectory of bilateral relations.
