Amman: Lebanon's Prime Minister-designate, Nawaf Salam, stated Tuesday that he will set an integrated program to build an economy that maintains a comprehensive and enduring growth in the country, emphasizing his readiness to cooperate with all political parties to advance Lebanon.
According to Qatar News Agency, following his meeting with President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, Salam highlighted that he is open to collaborating with everyone for reform, rescue, and reconstruction, stressing that the time has come to start a new chapter rooted in justice and security.
Salam stated that he is not someone who excludes others but rather believes in unity and national partnership. He emphasized that betting on Lebanon's unity and cooperation is the right approach. Salam also expressed his hope for the initiation of a workshop for building a new Lebanon, emphasizing that addressing the fallout of the recent Israeli aggression constitutes one of the most formidable challenges currently facing Lebanon.
It is imperative to restore the full authority of the state over its entire territory, implement the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, and ensure the withdrawal of Israel from Lebanese territories, Salam underscored.
Salam was appointed to this position following the mandatory parliamentary consultations conducted by Joseph Aoun. He secured 84 votes out of 128, with the total number of members of parliament representing 16 parliamentary blocs, while his rival, Najib Mikati, received 9 votes.
