Ministry of Environment Opens Registration for 2025/2026 Winter Camping Season

Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has launched electronic registration for the 2025/2026 winter camping season, with a phased rollout based on region: Central (Oct. 1-4), Southern (Oct. 5-8), and Northern (Oct. 9-14).

According to Qatar News Agency, the season officially begins on October 15 and runs for six months, with camp setup permitted from day one. Due to high demand, the Sealine area has been allocated an entire registration day. Director of Wildlife Protection Department, Hamad Salem Al Nuaimi, who also chairs the Winter Camping Committee, said up to 3,000 camps will be allowed this season, with possible expansions in select zones. Campsite changes are allowed only before confirmation, with a QAR 1,000 fee, while a QAR 10,000 refundable deposit is mandatory. Subleasing is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate permit cancellation.

Meanwhile, Head of Infrastructure and Project Management, Aisha Al Muhaiza, noted that a new digital system has been introduced to streamline registration and improve user experience. The system is integrated with national databases to automatically exempt retirees and people with disabilities from registration fees upon entering their QID. Permits are issued within three working days after site inspection, and applicants can print their camp plates once approved.

Within the first two hours of launch, 125 applications were submitted, with high interest reported in Sealine, Al Mazroua, and the northern coast. After the initial registration window closes on October 14, the platform will reopen for all regions from October 15 to November 15, based on site availability.

The ministry emphasized its commitment to providing a smoother, more accessible camping experience, with dedicated support for seniors and individuals unfamiliar with digital platforms.
