Riyadh: The Muslim World League (MWL) welcomed the statement issued by the Co-Chairs of the United Nations High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
According to Qatar News Agency, the MWL’s General Secretariat reiterated its appreciation for the significant and pivotal efforts of the International coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. This conference was one of the important outcomes, in addition to the diplomatic gains achieved by the coalition in record time, in pushing the international community towards a legitimate and responsible position in support of the human and legal rights of the Palestinian people.
The statement expressed regret over the ongoing escalation and recent developments in the region, which necessitated the suspension of this historic conference. The world was looking forward to achieving a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian cause, implementing the two-state solution, and ending the long-standing injustice suffered by the Palestinian people and the humanitarian tragedy endured by civilians in the Gaza Strip.
A statement was issued by the Co-Chairs of the United Nations High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic) and the Chairs of the conference’s working groups (Qatar, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Norway, Senegal, Spain, Turkiye, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the League of Arab States).
The statement expressed deep concern over the continued escalation and recent developments that necessitated the suspension of the UN High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. These events confirm the validity of warnings about the fragility of the situation in the region and the urgent need to restore calm, respect international law, and strengthen diplomatic efforts.
