Doha: The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday expressed its opprobrium over the colonists’ assaults on Palestinians and foreign activists during the olive cultivation season in the occupied West Bank. The mob of the colonists’ armed gangsters is unequivocally condoned and protected by the Israeli occupation army and is part of a large-scale, methodical policy to target Palestinians and block farmers’ access to their lands through beatings, the ministry stressed in a statement.
According to Qatar News Agency, the statement added that the practices involved setting vehicles ablaze and stealing olive fruits, acts that are part of a plan to commit genocide, displacement, and impede the global momentum aimed at ending the occupation and the efforts of the Palestinian statehood embodiment. In addition, the ministry called out the detention of 32 foreign activists by the Israeli occupation authorities who were participating in a campaign to support Palestinians in cultivating olives and documenting the colonists’ crimes.
It considered these practices a continuation of covering up the staggering assaults and violations of international law as part of a holistic policy that aims to entrench the effacement of Palestinians in the occupied territory. The attempts of the occupation authorities, alongside their various leveraged tools and the colonizers’ terror, which aim to displace the Palestinian people from their territory through terrorism, killings, uprooting trees, and crop arson, must not go unpunished because they constitute a brazen breach of international law, the statement stressed.
It further added that these actions pose a threat to the principles of justice that form the very foundation of the international order, as well as to other fundamental norms and rights. The ministry called on all nations and the international community to swiftly act to put an end to these practices, protect Palestinian civilians, and ensure their enduring rights to live in peace and dignity on their territory.
