Palestinian Premier, UN Official Discuss Gaza Reconstruction

Doha: Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Mustafa and United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Tom Fletcher discussed ways to enhance coordination and implement steps for the Gaza Strip’s recovery and reconstruction.

According to Qatar News Agency, Mustafa emphasized that the reconstruction efforts should be led by Palestinians, with support and backing from Arab states and international partners. He underscored the importance of enabling the State of Palestine and its institutions to operate effectively on the ground in Gaza, highlighting the crucial role of UN agencies in supporting these initiatives.

Fletcher, on his part, reiterated the necessity of UN bodies working in conjunction with State of Palestine institutions in Gaza. He stated that any attempts to bypass these entities would undermine the relief efforts aimed at the recovery and reconstruction of the region.
