Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received a phone call from HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Antonio Tajani. During the call, the two leaders discussed the recent military escalation in the region and its implications for both regional and international security and stability. They also explored ways to resolve these disputes through peaceful negotiations.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani condemned the targeting of Qatari territory by Iranian ballistic missiles, labeling it a violation of national sovereignty. He emphasized that such actions contradict the principles of good neighborliness and cannot be justified. The Prime Minister highlighted Qatar's longstanding neutral stance in regional conflicts and its efforts to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community. Despite these efforts, the recent attacks threaten mutual understanding and bilateral relations.
HE Prime Minister further urged for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to dialogue, emphasizing the need for reason and wisdom to prevail in order to contain the crisis and preserve regional security.
Meanwhile, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani condemned the Iranian missile attack on Qatar, describing it as a blatant violation of Qatar's sovereignty and international law, as well as the United Nations Charter.
