Doha: The Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation announced the signing of a joint sports cooperation agreement with the Palestinian Wrestling Federation. The agreement is set to enhance strategic partnerships through joint training camps, organizing sports programs and championships, and exchanging technical and refereeing expertise.
According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement was signed by Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation, and Riyad Hassan, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Wrestling Federation and a member of the International Wrestling Federation’s Sports for All Committee. The signing ceremony was attended by Abdullah Hamad Al Mosaifri, Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation, Board Member Ghanem Saleh Al Kuwari, and Massimiliano Montanari, CEO of the International Centre for Sport Security.
The collaboration aims to develop cooperation in training, refereeing, and joint camps, contributing to the enhancement of technical and skill levels for Qatari and Palestinian wrestlers. This initiative is expected to prepare athletes to compete at regional, Arab, continental, and international championships.
In a statement, Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid Al-Thani highlighted the significant contributions of Palestinian wrestlers at the Arab and international levels. He emphasized that this agreement is a crucial step in providing broader opportunities for athletes from both federations to improve their skills and competitive edge, ultimately elevating Qatari and Palestinian sporting achievements on the global stage.
Riyad Hassan expressed appreciation for Qatar’s ongoing support of Palestinian sports. He noted that the agreement represents a significant shift in the wrestling movement in both countries, fostering the development of a promising generation of champions capable of achieving podium finishes in international competitions.
