Qatar Cabinet Highlights National Development and Foreign Policy Achievements


Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani led the Cabinet’s regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday morning.



According to Qatar News Agency, following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi conveyed the Cabinet’s commendation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s speech during the opening of the Shura Council’s 54th annual session. The Cabinet emphasized the significance of the speech, which outlined critical visions and directives for achieving the Third National Development Strategy goals and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.



The Cabinet praised the economic accomplishments highlighted in the Amir’s address, noting advancements in energy, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare sectors. These achievements have enhanced Qatar’s standing as a prime investment destination in technology and tourism.



The Cabinet stressed the importance of education as a foundation for national growth, the role of families in upbringing, and the importance of preparing the national workforce for future challenges. It emphasized advancing justice systems, supporting the private sector’s competitiveness, and encouraging public-private sector partnerships.



On foreign policy, the Cabinet lauded Qatar’s contributions to global standing, conflict resolution, and humanitarian efforts. It particularly noted the Amir’s call for international action regarding the Palestinian issue, urging protection for Palestinians and accountability for atrocities.



HE the Prime Minister instructed ministries and public institutions to align their operations with the Amir’s speech, translating its directives into actionable plans and programs to fulfill national aspirations.



The Cabinet also reviewed and approved, in principle, draft legislation on Environmental Protection and Sustainability, drafted by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. This legislation aims to align with national strategies, enhance environmental protection, and address climate change issues.



Additionally, the Cabinet approved amendments to real estate ownership laws for non-Qataris, aimed at attracting foreign investments and promoting balanced urban development. It also sanctioned draft memoranda of understanding with Saudi Arabia and Thailand in nonprofit sector collaboration and diplomatic training, respectively, and a twinning agreement with Nicosia Municipality in Cyprus.



The meeting concluded with a review of two reports, including the Annual Report No. (12) of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law and a report on the Global Autism Advocacy Coalition, with appropriate decisions made.
