Qatar Chamber and Oman Explore New Avenues for Trade and Investment Cooperation


Doha: The Qatar Chamber hosted a meeting with HE Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef and his accompanying delegation. The Omani delegation was welcomed by HE Chairman of Qatar Chamber Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, along with several board members and Qatari businessmen.



According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Qatar and Oman, particularly in commercial, economic, and investment sectors. Discussions included the role of the private sector in boosting trade exchanges and fostering mutual investments. Both sides talked about strengthening economic partnerships, increasing exchanges of visits and trade delegations, and the possibility of organizing an annual Qatari-Omani trade exhibition to highlight business opportunities in both countries. The meeting also emphasized the need to activate the Qatari-Omani Business Council and develop a joint executive action plan for expanding cooperation.



‘Invest in Oman,’ affiliated with the Omani Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, presented 78 investment opportunities for Qatari investors in various sectors including fisheries, food, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, technology, minerals, renewable energy, tourism, and agriculture.



HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani reaffirmed the strong fraternal relations between Qatar and Oman, noting that these ties are a model of constructive cooperation and mutual respect. He highlighted that the strategic partnerships contribute to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and Oman Vision 2040. He mentioned that economic relations have developed significantly, with trade exchange reaching about QR 6.2 billion in 2024, a 17 percent increase from the previous year.



He also noted the significant presence of Qatari and Omani companies in each other’s markets. Sheikh Khalifa stressed the importance of sustainable economic partnerships and called for intensified efforts to enhance communication and overcome challenges for investors. He praised the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its role in supporting joint economic efforts.



HE Minister Qais bin Mohamed Al Yousef expressed gratitude to Qatar Chamber for hosting the meeting, highlighting the impact of the Qatari-Omani Business Forum on strengthening business relations. He emphasized the importance of exchanging visits and organizing joint trade exhibitions to promote products from both countries. He also noted that upcoming free trade agreements within the GCC will create greater cooperation opportunities for Qatari and Omani investors.



HE Second Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba praised the strong ties between Qatari and Omani businessmen and emphasized the shared desire for enhanced cooperation to stimulate investments and trade exchanges.



The Omani delegation presented investment opportunities and incentives for foreign investors in Oman, highlighting the 22 free economic and industrial zones that offer pioneering opportunities across various sectors.
