Doha: The State of Qatar has been actively participating in numerous international events and meetings, showcasing its commitment to global cooperation and development. This week, Qatar took part in the 25th International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI) Conference in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The conference, which began on Wednesday, spans three days and focuses on enhancing accountability and transparency in governmental operations.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar also made its presence felt in environmental affairs by joining the 26th meeting of the Technical Committee for Environment, which is affiliated with the Council of Arab Ministers in Charge of Environmental Affairs. This meeting took place in Nouakchott, Mauritania. Additionally, Qatar participated in the eighth Paris Peace Forum in France, an event that gathered global political leaders, diplomats, and representatives from international organizations to discuss peace and prosperity.
Furthermore, Qatar’s Shura Council was part of the discussions at the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Moscow, Russia. On the economic front, Qatar engaged in ministerial meetings of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Kuwait, covering trade, industrial cooperation, and standardization affairs.
In a move highlighting economic collaboration, the Swiss Business Council Qatar celebrated its 10th anniversary and the 2025 Swiss Excellence Awards. Qatar’s economic strategy was further emphasized by the Qatar Chamber Chairman, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, who called for a unified Gulf vision for economic diversification and sustainable development.
In financial developments, the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) decided to reduce interest rates on deposits, lending, and repurchase operations. This decision aligns with the country’s current monetary policy objectives. Additionally, QatarEnergy secured a long-term agreement with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) from India for the supply of LNG over the next 17 years.
The Local Organizing Committee of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 confirmed the country’s readiness to host the tournament starting November 3. Meanwhile, the World 10-Ball Billiards Championship continued in Doha with participation from 256 players representing 55 countries.
