Doha: Al-Watan newspaper began its Wednesday editorial by highlighting the delivery of a proposal to the Hamas delegation to end the war on the Gaza Strip, based on US President Donald Trump’s plan. The movement has pledged to study the plan, and the proposal has been met with widespread support, with many countries welcoming Trump’s announcement of a peace council, with Washington acting as a guarantor of the plan’s success.
According to Qatar News Agency, the State of Qatar is actively mediating to end the war and alleviate starvation in Gaza. Qatar has expressed appreciation for the US commitment to this goal and has pledged to provide any necessary support to halt the conflict, assist the people of Gaza, and facilitate reconstruction efforts. This commitment was echoed by Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who emphasized Qatar’s dedication to these objectives.
Al-Watan concluded its editorial by asserting that consensus among all parties is essential for implementing any agreement. The newspaper noted that international consensus and recognition of the Palestinian state convey a strong message to the occupation that it is time to conclude this prolonged conflict, which has resulted in the loss of thousands of innocent Palestinian lives and the displacement of hundreds of thousands.
Meanwhile, The Peninsula, an English-language newspaper, reiterated Qatar’s steadfast commitment to ending the war in Gaza and supporting the comprehensive peace plan proposed by the US President. The publication emphasized Doha’s positive reception of Trump’s proposal to establish a Peace Council for the plan’s implementation and its readiness to assume responsibilities in the reconstruction of Gaza.
Furthermore, The Peninsula highlighted Qatar’s long-term commitment to rebuilding infrastructure, restoring essential services, and securing a sustainable future for the enclave. This approach aligns with Qatar’s support for initiatives that advance the Palestinian cause, promote peace, and uphold the dignity and rights of Palestinians. The newspaper concluded by noting the growing diplomatic momentum, as more than a dozen states have recognized Palestine, reinforcing international rejection of the occupation and support for Palestinian statehood.
On a domestic note, Al-Arab newspaper reported that the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is actively pursuing its strategic plan to enhance Qatar’s infrastructure in response to population growth and urban expansion. The newspaper detailed Ashghal’s announcement of 13 new contracts valued at QR 12 billion, which encompass key projects aimed at strengthening road and drainage networks and public buildings. These initiatives include innovative technologies such as AI-based digital platforms and self-driving vehicles for asset surveys, as well as laser systems for proactive road maintenance.
Al-Arab concluded by emphasizing the significance of these projects in achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to enhance sustainable infrastructure, improve efficiency, and extend the lifespan of road assets through innovative materials and technologies.
