Ismailia: The Qatari table tennis team celebrated a remarkable achievement by securing two gold medals and one silver medal at the Egypt International Youth Table Tennis Championship, which took place in the Egyptian city of Ismailia. The tournament saw participation from more than 16 countries, creating a competitive atmosphere for young athletes.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ahmed Eid of the Qatari team clinched the gold medal in the under-17 youth singles category. Eid delivered an impressive performance in the final match against Egyptian Saif El-Din Kassem, winning with scores of (3-0), (11-7), (11-7), and (11-6). This victory marked a significant milestone in Eid’s sports career.
Another outstanding performance came from Youssef Abdullah, who secured the second gold medal for Qatar in the under-15 junior singles competition. Abdullah triumphed over Egyptian player Sayed Abdel Malek in the final, winning with scores of (3-0), (11-9), (11-7), and (11-9). His victory added to the team’s overall succes
s in the championship.
Despite a strong effort, Qatari player Abdulaziz Al-Abbad earned the silver medal in the U-13 singles competition. Al-Abbad faced Egyptian Aser Sameh in the final match and concluded with scores of (0-3), (14-12), (11-4), and (13-11).
The championship was held under the auspices of the World Table Tennis Foundation (WTT), featuring participants from countries including Luxembourg, Kazakhstan, Croatia, Libya, Malaysia, Palestine, Iraq, India, Algeria, UAE, Jordan, Austria, Kenya, and South Africa.
