Qatari-Turkish Strategic Committee Co-Chairs Affirm Strengthened Partnership in Doha


Doha: Qatari newspapers have extensively covered the co-chairing of the 11th session of the Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee in Doha by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This event is anticipated to bolster the Qatari-Turkish partnership, serving as a cornerstone for regional stability and shared prosperity.



According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers emphasized that the ongoing coordination between Doha and Ankara showcases their shared commitment to fostering stability and development in the region. The collaboration aims to establish a successful model of relations based on common interests and strong fraternal ties between the two nations, enhancing their status on both regional and international platforms.



Al-Arab newspaper highlighted that the event in Doha marked the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding across various fields. The 11th session, co-chaired by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was held at the Amiri Diwan. Notably, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the defense industry was signed between Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and Turkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries. This memorandum is expected to open new opportunities for cooperation in developing advanced military technologies and strengthening joint defense capabilities.



The newspaper also noted that a joint ministerial statement was signed between the Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Turkish Ministry of Trade. This agreement aims to diversify trade exchange and facilitate investments, with a target of reaching USD 5 billion in the near future. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in strategic development planning was signed. These agreements build on previous achievements, such as those reached during the 10th session in the fields of energy and investment.



Al-Arab concluded by mentioning the consensus between Doha and Ankara on the Palestinian issue, as both Qatar and Turkiye are major supporters of the Palestinian people. The meeting is part of Erdogan’s Gulf tour, which includes Kuwait and Oman, promoting unity in addressing global challenges like energy crises and inflation.



Similarly, Al-Raya newspaper pointed out that the recurring meetings of the Supreme Strategic Committee over 11 years signify that the bilateral relations between Qatar and Turkiye have reached a stage of strategic integration. The two countries are aligned in their coordination on regional and international issues, working on multiple political initiatives to consolidate security, peace, stability, and development.



The newspaper highlighted that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss strategic cooperation in several fields, including defense, trade, investment, and energy. It also addressed regional issues like developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, focusing on consolidating the ceasefire and facilitating humanitarian aid.
