Doha: Qatari newspapers have focused their editorials on a range of significant issues, with particular emphasis on Qatar’s condemnation of the violence targeting civilians in Al Jazirah state, Sudan. The editorials describe these acts as violations of international laws and humanitarian norms.
According to Qatar News Agency, the dailies also reflected on the historical impact of the Balfour Declaration, which they consider a precursor to the current conflicts in the region, including recent aggression in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian territories, and Lebanon. Al-Sharq’s editorial, titled “Qatar Always Stands By Sudanese People,” emphasized Qatar’s concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Sudan since the war’s onset. The State of Qatar has consistently condemned the violence against civilians, as reiterated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ recent statement.
Qatar continues to support diplomatic efforts for peace in Sudan and has provided humanitarian aid directed by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim
bin Hamad Al-Thani, through an air bridge to alleviate the crisis’s impact on civilians. Qatar’s stance on the Sudanese crisis is rooted in its commitment to the unity and sovereignty of Sudan and its dedication to promoting human rights. Al-Raya echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Qatar’s longstanding concern for Sudan and its call for dialogue and political solutions to ensure stability.
