Saudi arabia: Saudi Arabia opened their Asian World Cup play-off campaign with a 3-2 win over Indonesia on Wednesday, securing top spot in Group B.
According to Qatar News Agency, Firas Al Buraikan scored twice (34′, 62′) and Saleh Abu Al-Shamat added another in the 17th minute for the hosts, while Indonesia’s Kevin Diks netted both goals from the penalty spot (11′, 82′).
With three points, Saudi Arabia lead the group ahead of their final match against Iraq next Tuesday. Indonesia will face Iraq on Saturday.
Only the group winner will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The runner-up will face the second-placed team from Group A – featuring Qatar, Oman, and the UAE – in a two-legged play-off for a place in the intercontinental qualifier.
