Ramallah – Ma’an – The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club announced on Monday that the occupation forces have arrested 640 children from the occupied West Bank, and some of them have been subjected to torture, since the outbreak of their aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7.
The Prisoners’ Club said in a statement: “Since the beginning of the genocide war, no less than 640 cases of arrest among children have been recorded.”
This total number includes those who were later released by the occupation authorities and those who continue to be detained in their prisons.
He added: “The children in the occupation prisons, who number (currently) are about 250, are exposed to all retaliatory measures, including: abuse, torture, and medical crimes, to which (adult) prisoners are exposed to in the occupation prisons and camps.”
The Prisoners’ Club reported that there was “a group of children in Megiddo (prison) in northern Israel who were arrested from the Gaza Strip,” without additional information.
The Prisone
rs’ Club said, “Yesterday, Sunday (the first day of Eid al-Adha), the Israeli authorities arrested the child Bahaa Kazem Haj Muhammad (7 years old) from the town of Al-Mughayir, east of Ramallah, and released him hours later.”
According to the child’s family, ‘he was in the center of the town, accompanied by children and boys, when they were arrested, as the town of Al-Mughair, like all governorates, towns and camps, is exposed to repeated raids by the occupation forces,’ according to the statement.
The Prisoner’s Club added, “Bahaa was beaten by his hands after his arrest, and the occupation deliberately left him at a point far from his home, while keeping three others detained, namely boys and a young man.”
Israel continues its war on Gaza, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah (south), and to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip.
Tel Aviv is also defying the request of International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan to issue arrest warrants against its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and its Defense Minister, Yoav Galant. For their responsibility for ‘war crimes’ and ‘crimes against humanity’ in Gaza.
