UN Secretary-General Calls for Immediate Halt to Hostilities in Gaza

Doha: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres Tuesday issued an urgent appeal for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and across the region, stressing that civilians must not bear the cost of conflict with their lives and futures.

According to Qatar News Agency, Guterres emphasized that a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, alongside a credible political process, is essential to preventing further bloodshed. He highlighted the importance of seizing the latest proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump regarding Gaza as a significant opportunity to end the ongoing tragic conflict.

Earlier today, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported a significant increase in the death toll from the war waged by Israeli occupation forces over the past two years, with 67,173 people losing their lives and 169,780 individuals wounded.
