Doha: The Family Consulting Center (Wifaq), part of the Qatar Social Work Foundation and affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family, signed a cooperation protocol with the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, to provide comprehensive support to families facing challenges associated with diabetes.
According to Qatar News Agency, the partnership aims to enhance social and psychological support for families of children diagnosed with diabetes. This agreement coincides with World Diabetes Day in November, which focuses on the theme of Diabetes and well-being, addressing the psychological and family challenges faced by those diagnosed with diabetes and their families. The partnership emphasizes the importance of mental health as part of comprehensive treatment plans.
Efforts under this partnership include training healthcare professionals on the importance of psychological support and family counseling. This traini
ng aims to enhance their ability to provide integrated services to affected families and improve the community’s readiness to deal with these challenges. Deputy Executive Director of Wifaq, Saleem Mohammed Al Anzi, highlighted the center’s role in addressing the challenges families face and noted that the partnership will offer specialized counseling sessions to improve mental health and reduce pressures associated with managing diabetes.
Al Anzi stated that the collaboration will extend services to diabetes patients, offering necessary social support and organizing awareness workshops for families and the community. These workshops will focus on the social and psychological support aspects for children with diabetes and their families. The partnership will also aid in training healthcare professionals, enhancing their skills in dealing with patients and families.
