Baotou: An explosion at a factory in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has killed two people, left eight missing, and injured 84, local authorities said. The incident took place at a plate plant of Baogang United Steel in western Baotou City, originating from the blast of a 650-cubic-meter saturated water and steam spherical tank.
According to Qatar News Agency, the explosion has led to 84 injured individuals receiving treatment in hospitals, with five in serious condition, as reported by the executive vice mayor of Baotou during a press briefing. In response to the incident, the government has halted production at the affected plant and initiated a city-wide safety review of industrial and trade enterprises to prevent future occurrences.
Investigations into the environmental impact of the blast are still underway. Monitoring efforts by environmental protection departments have not yet detected any negative effects on the surrounding air or soil quality.
