An earthquake measuring 4.7 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Wednesday south of the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. No tsunami warnings were issued, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. No reports of material damage or human losses due to the earthquake so far. The Kermadec Islands are about 1,000 km northeast of New Zealand's North Island and are often exposed to strong earthquakes. Source: Qatar News Agency
