Doha: The 47th World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM Qatar 2025) is set to commence on Saturday at Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield, running through November 23. The event will feature 320 skydivers from 30 countries, including Algeria, Germany, Austria, Bahrain, the United States, Belgium, Brazil, Russia, China, and others, with Slovakia attending to receive the flag for the next edition.
According to Qatar News Agency, Vice Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee, Lt. Colonel Abdullah Saeed Al Mansouri, extended a warm welcome to the participants, highlighting the event as a significant challenge for Qatari air sports. Al Mansouri praised the organizing committee for their efforts in ensuring a smooth preparation process, as teams have already begun their training following the official opening ceremony.
The Supreme Organizing Committee, led by HE Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee and Commander of the Joint Special Forces, Brigadier General Mohammed bin Zayed Al Otaibi, announced that all arrangements for the championship's opening ceremony and competitions are complete. The committee has utilized its resources to ensure the success of this international event, reinforcing Qatar's status as a premier global sporting destination.
A technical meeting was held on Thursday at Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield, chaired by the Qatar Air Sports Committee and the International Military Sports Council (CISM). The meeting addressed a range of issues, including technical and organizational arrangements, referee guidelines, team registration, doping control, and security measures.
The Supreme Organizing Committee also conducted inspection tours to verify the preparedness of the championship venue. These included rehearsals and technical tests for the opening ceremony, as well as arrangements for the unveiling of the Air Sports Museum, a highlight of the championship.
The Qatari skydiving team is actively training for the competitions, particularly focusing on the target landing event, with a strong desire to claim victory on home turf. The Qatar Air Sports Committee has extended an invitation to Qatari citizens, residents, and visitors to attend the event at Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield, promising a memorable experience with spectacular performances and a specially prepared fan zone offering numerous surprises for attendees.
