Post: 48 Killed in Fuel Truck Explosion in Central Nigeria

At least 48 people were killed Sunday in a fuel tanker explosion on a busy highway in Niger State, Nigeria's central region. The head of the emergency management agency, Abdullahi Baba Ara, said the ill-fated truck collided head-on with an oncoming truck carrying travelers and cattle, causing the petrol tanker to explode. He added that the fire had also destroyed two vehicles, pointing out that a search was underway to retrieve the bodies of more victims believed to be trapped in the stricken vehicles.
