Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Sunday in the US state of Alaska. The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake's epicenter was in the Rat Islands, west of Alaska, at a depth of 134.2 kilometers.
According to Qatar News Agency, there are no reports of damage or casualties from the earthquake so far. Alaska is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region where tectonic plates collide, leading to intense seismic and volcanic activity.
