Multan: An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck central Pakistan, causing tremors felt across the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) determined that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 149 km west of Multan. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km.
Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage following the earthquake. This incident comes after a recent 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck areas in northwestern Pakistan in December 2024.
The region has a history of seismic activity, with a particularly devastating 7.6-magnitude earthquake in 2005, which resulted in the loss of thousands of lives.
