5.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Central Peru

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck central Peru, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

According to Qatar News Agency, the EMSC reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 22 kilometers. There have been no reports of casualties or damage so far.

Peru experiences approximately 400 earthquakes each year that are felt by residents, as it lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a seismically active region along the west coast of the Americas.
