6.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Indonesia’s Papua Region

Doha: An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck on Tuesday the eastern Indonesian region of Papua. The earthquake occurred around 193 km northwest of the town of Abepura in Papua, at a depth of 10.0 km, US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage so far, and no tsunami warning has been issued. Indonesia is prone to frequent seismic activity due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
