Doha: The General Assembly of the Arab Union for Camel Racing has re-elected Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Kuwari as president of the Union and chairman of the Board of Directors by acclamation.
According to Qatar News Agency, this decision was made during the Assembly's virtual meeting, which saw the participation of representatives from 13 full-member national entities out of a total of 16. The Assembly approved significant amendments to the Union's bylaws, which include restructuring its governance framework, enhancing the autonomy of member federations, and focusing the Union's regulations exclusively on championships and events under its auspices.
The Assembly also introduced changes that regulate the Union's interactions with external organizations, adopting CAS arbitration for internal disputes, and promoting new sports disciplines connected to camel racing. It was also announced that all candidates for various positions within the Union were elected unanimously, as each post had only one nominee. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Kuwari appointed Dr. Hazem Almqareh as secretary-general and executive director, and Hadef Mohammed Hamad Al Marri as treasurer.
The Union's Assembly unanimously approved Syria's membership and decided to hold its next General Assembly meeting in Qatar, coinciding with the HH the Amir Camel Race in late April or early May 2027. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Kuwari expressed his pride in the confidence shown by the Assembly, emphasizing that his re-election will drive the Union's mission forward by enhancing its effectiveness, broadening Arab participation, and supporting events that unite members and offer more opportunities for young enthusiasts of camel sports.
