Doha: Al-Raya newspaper affirmed that the launch of a relief air bridge to the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, under the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, underscores Qatar's unwavering commitment to standing firmly by Lebanon in the face of the repercussions of Israeli attacks.
According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial, titled "Qatar's Message of Solidarity with Lebanon," the newspaper stated that the dispatch of the first relief flights -- carrying personnel from the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), alongside shipments of medical and humanitarian aid provided by the Ministry of Public Health and the Qatar Fund for Development -- translates this principled stance into tangible action. These efforts, it noted, play a vital role in alleviating the humanitarian toll of the aggression on the Lebanese people.
The aid shipments, exceeding 100 tonnes, include critical medical equipment, essential medicines, and emergency first-aid supplies, aimed at supporting hospitals across Lebanon and reinforcing the country's humanitarian response capacity under exceptionally challenging circumstances. The assistance also helps mitigate the impact of displacement resulting from the recent escalation.
Al-Raya highlighted that this initiative reflects Qatar's swift and effective response to Lebanon's urgent appeal, noting the appreciation expressed by Lebanese officials for the scale and timeliness of the support. Such assistance, the newspaper added, is instrumental in enhancing hospital preparedness and enabling medical teams to cope with the growing number of casualties.
The editorial stressed that Qatar's support forms part of a sustained commitment to providing medical, humanitarian, relief, and development assistance, while strengthening the readiness of health institutions to ensure the continued delivery of essential care during times of crisis.
It further emphasized that this effort embodies the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two countries, particularly in light of the grave challenges posed by the latest escalation. Qatar, the newspaper noted, has consistently stood by Lebanon through successive crises -- whether during periods of aggression, in the aftermath of disasters, or through its ongoing support for the Lebanese Armed Forces.
Al-Raya concluded that the current air bridge marks a new chapter in Qatar's long-standing record of support for Lebanon, reinforcing its position as a dependable partner that stands resolutely with its brothers in times of need.
