Doha: Al Sadd and Al Arabi emerged victorious in their opening games of the 2026-27 Qatar U-19 Basketball League, which commenced on Monday at the Qatar Basketball Federation hall.
According to Qatar News Agency, in the first match of the day, Al Sadd dominated Al Khor with a decisive 90-35 victory. Al Sadd's performance was consistent across all four quarters, posting scores of 35-10, 10-9, 28-9, and 17-7, thereby securing their first two points of the tournament, while Al Khor earned one point despite the loss.
In the second matchup, Al Arabi overcame Al Wakrah with a 74-57 win. Al Arabi outperformed their opponents in three out of the four quarters, with scores of 23-9, 21-13, 15-14, and 15-21, marking their first triumph of the league.
The competition will resume on September 21 with two matches scheduled at the Qatar Basketball Federation hall. Al Shamal will compete against Qatar SC, while Al Ahli will face off with Al Rayyan.
The second round of the league is set to occur over two days. On September 28, Qatar SC will play against Al Wakrah, followed by a match between Al Rayyan and Al Shamal. The round will conclude on October 5, featuring Al Arabi versus Al Khor and Al Sadd against Al Gharafa.
The third round is slated to begin on November 3, where Al Wakrah will take on Al Rayyan, and Al Khor will compete against Qatar SC. This round will wrap up on November 10 with Al Gharafa facing Al Arabi and Al Shamal meeting Al Ahli.
The fourth round will also span two days. On November 16, Al Rayyan will play Al Khor, and Al Ahli will challenge Al Wakrah. The round's conclusion on November 23 will see Qatar SC against Al Gharafa and a match between Al Arabi and Al Sadd.
