Al Shaqab Racing’s ‘Afjan’ Triumphs in UAE President’s Cup

Dundalk: Afjan, owned and bred by Al Shaqab Racing, has clinched the UAE President's Cup, a Group 3 race for purebred Arabian horses, during the 8th round of the classic series held at Dundalk Racecourse, covering 2,150 meters. Afjan crossed the finish line to secure the premier berth under the supervision of trainer John de Mieulle and the riding of jockey Olivier Dondini, adding a new milestone to his incredible record.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Zaeer, of Mohammed bin Fahad bin Abdullah Hamad Al Attiyah, finished second, trained by Francois Ro and ridden by jockey Guillaume Guedj Ghie. Coming in third was Ska du Ligle, owned by Mustafa Bu Saif, also under the supervision of trainer Francois Ro, with jockey Jean-Bernard Eyquem in the saddle.

Afjan is considered a top-tier champion, having previously secured several notable victories prior to winning the UAE President's Cup. It snagged a Group 1 title over 2,000 meters at the age of three, in addition to winning a Group 3 race over 1,900 meters.
