American Pegula and Czech Muchova Secure Spots in Wimbledon Quarterfinals

Geneva: American Jessica Pegula qualified for the Wimbledon quarterfinals after defeating her compatriot Iva Jovic in three sets on Sunday. Pegula triumphed in the match with scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

According to Qatar News Agency, with this quarterfinal appearance, the 32-year-old Pegula equaled her best result at Wimbledon, three years after reaching the same stage when she lost to Czech Marketa Vondrousova, who went on to win the title. Pegula will face either Swiss Belinda Bencic or American Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals for a place in the semifinals.

Czech Karolina Muchova also reached the quarterfinals by defeating her compatriot Barbora Krejcikova with scores of 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.
