Amir Calls for Istisqa Prayer Amidst Busy Diplomatic Engagements and Events

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has called for the Istisqa (rain-seeking) prayer to be performed across the country on Thursday morning, 22 Jumada Al-Ula 1447 AH, corresponding to November 13, 2024. This prayer is a significant religious event emphasizing the importance of communal supplication for rain.

According to Qatar News Agency, the week's diplomatic and official engagements were marked by several high-profile meetings and events. HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani presided over the Cabinet's regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan. Meanwhile, HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani arrived in Kuwait to participate in the 42nd GCC Interior Ministers meeting, where he also represented Qatar.

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad conducted a virtual meeting with the Palestinian government operations room, underscoring Qatar's ongoing commitment to support international cooperation and relief efforts. HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari was engaged in discussions in London, highlighting financial collaborations between Qatar and the United Kingdom.

On the labor front, HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri held meetings with Portuguese counterparts to explore collaborative opportunities in labor sectors. Additionally, justice and energy sectors saw active engagements with meetings held by Qatari officials in Egypt, Sudan, Syria, and South Korea.

The coming days will also see Qatar hosting major events such as the third annual QRCS scientific conference and the 12th World Innovation Summit for Education. These events are poised to promote innovation and collaboration in education and healthcare. Furthermore, Qatar's participation in international forums like the IOSCO annual meeting and the SIFoCC meeting exemplifies its active role in global governance and judicial cooperation.
