Post: Amir of Qatar Welcomes Omani Sultan for Fraternal Visit

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani led the well-wishers in welcoming HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of the Sultanate of Oman and his delegation at the Amiri Terminal in Hamad International Airport on Sunday. The visit marks a significant occasion as the two leaders held a meeting at the Amiri Diwan to discuss mutual interests and strengthen bilateral relations.

According to Qatar News Agency, following their discussions, the Amir once again led the well-wishers to bid farewell to Sultan Haitham and his accompanying delegation as they departed from the Amiri Hall at Hamad International Airport. The visit underscored the strong fraternal ties between Qatar and Oman.

In other diplomatic activities, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, sent congratulatory cables to HE President of the Republic of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam on the occasion of Singapore's national day. HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani also extended his congratulations to HE Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong.

Additionally, HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri met with HE Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to Qatar, Valerie Lusamba Kabeya. Meanwhile, HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad engaged in meetings with HE Ambassador of Turkiye Dr. Mustafa Goksu and HE Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation Florence Tinguely.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family, through its Family Empowerment Department, launched the second edition of the Financial Awareness Program to promote sound financial management and support family stability. Similarly, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology celebrated the completion of the third cycle of the "Wasel" program, marking the launch of its fourth cycle to encourage the growth of scalable technology companies in Qatar.

The National Planning Council released results from the Foreign Direct Investment Survey for the first quarter of 2026, indicating continued growth in both inward and outward FDI. In the realm of sports and achievements, Qatari mountaineer Sheikha Asma bint Thani Al-Thani reached the summit of Gasherbrum II, while Qatari beach volleyball players Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan were honored as Asia's Best Men's Beach Volleyball Players.

The Qatar Football Association reiterated its dedication to enhancing the refereeing system and strengthening its international presence. Additionally, Qatar Charity signed a memorandum with the Mauritanian Ministry of Health to reinforce cooperation in the health sector, aligning with Mauritania's health strategies.
