Arab Cup Fever Rises as Qatar Prepares for Major Football Event

Doha: In its editorial titled "Arab Cup Fever Rises," English-language daily The Peninsula reported that the football season in Qatar feels fuller than ever, with the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup set to kick off tomorrow. More than 700,000 tickets have already been sold, with over 210,000 purchased from outside the country, demonstrating the strong resonance of the Arab Cup with supporters across the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, what makes this edition special is Qatar's growing capability to host consecutive major tournaments. The recent conclusion of the FIFA U-17 World Cup exemplifies the success stories already emerging this season. The Peninsula highlighted Qatar's ability to seamlessly manage these events as a testament to its organizational prowess.

Al-Arab newspaper focused on Qatar's efforts to build a modern state model founded on knowledge. Under the headline "Qatar Builds Minds to Shape Its Future as Knowledge Becomes a National Project," Al-Arab emphasized Qatar's investment in intellectual development as a cornerstone of its future, integrating education into its political, economic, and media planning strategies.

The newspaper noted that Qatar's journey in knowledge development is not about isolated initiatives but a comprehensive, integrated system. Education City has evolved beyond a traditional academic hub, becoming a laboratory for cultivating critical thinking and global awareness. The Doha Forum and the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) were highlighted as key platforms for political debate and educational innovation, respectively.

Al-Arab also mentioned Doha's designation as the Arab Media Capital for 2027, which reflects the growing confidence in Qatar's knowledge-based media landscape. This selection paved the way for the Qatar Media Corporation's launch of the Media Encyclopedia, aimed at providing structured reference material for researchers and media professionals.

Furthermore, the newspaper discussed Qatar's hosting of MWC25 Doha, showcasing the country's digital transformation and advanced technological projects. The Qatari pavilion at the event served as a dynamic showcase for digital identity, automated services, and big data projects.

In contrast, Al-Sharq newspaper addressed the ongoing regional tensions, highlighting Israel's continued aggression in the Middle East. Under the headline "Israel: A Persistent Policy of Undermining Regional Stability," Al-Sharq reported on Israel's recent attack in Syria, which resulted in civilian casualties. The newspaper warned that such actions could exacerbate regional instability and undermine efforts for lasting security.
