Arab League Acknowledges EU’s Role in Middle East Peace Efforts

Cairo: The Arab League on Thursday praised the European Union's (EU) initiatives in advancing the Middle East peace process and efforts toward implementing a two-state solution. The commendation also highlighted the EU's various forms of support to the Palestinian people, especially in relief and development areas within the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Qatar News Agency, this acknowledgment emerged from a meeting between Fayez Mustafa, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector, and Christophe Bigot, the EU's Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process. During the meeting, Mustafa emphasized the necessity of ending the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region. He noted that the Israeli government's policies, characterized by power arrogance and a scorched-earth approach, need to be addressed to realize comprehensive peace.
